Pacing Your Physics Class | How To Save Time

by | Sep 11, 2023

Every year, without fail, the most common question I receive from new physics teachers revolves around pacing. They express concern about not being able to cover all the material, apprehension about maintaining a comparable pace to other educators, and worry about meeting the expectations of their supervisors. This holds true for those instructing regular physics classes, as well as those undertaking the challenge of teaching AP Physics classes, complete with the formidable year-end test.

I’m happy to offer a selection of free pacing guides – available for Regular, AP Physics 1, and AP Physics C. However, my advice tends to vary based on whether the individual is new to teaching physics or possesses several years of experience under their belt.

In this video, I delve into the art of pacing a physics class. I tackle the strategies for new physics teachers, share insights on how to manage the pacing of an AP class, and provide tips for optimizing your classroom time.

As educators, we recognize that time is a precious commodity in the classroom, and mastering the skill of effective pacing is a vital aspect of providing a rich and impactful learning experience for our students.

Best regards,
